2021 program

The 2021 dieDAS walk + talk summit “Symbiotic Habitat - Growing Regenerative Connections” explored the coexistence of humans and nature. Topics ranged from designing a sustainable future to master crafts and materials survival, as well as past, present, and future material ecologies.

Chaired by Wava Carpenter, cofounder of Anava Projects and curatorial director Design Miami/ 2021, the digital conversations and presentations featured an esteemed set of contributors, including:

  • Beatrice Galilee, curator and author, New York
  • Fernando Laposse, designer, Mexico DF
  • Prof. Sébastien Marot, professor at the École d'Architecture in Paris-Est and teaches classes as a visiting professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale, Lausanne
  • Xu Tiantian, architect and founder of DnA Design, Beijing

Moreover, the international dieDAS 2021 fellows presented the results of their collective on-site project workshop in collaboration with dieDAS Artistic Director Maurizio Montalti. dieDAS Founding Director Arne Cornelius Wasmuth introduced the academy’s overall program as well as the site-specific challenges of the “uncomfortable monument.”
