Born in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1989, Valena Ammon is an artist and designer based in Halle,Germany. Her work explores the relationship between craft and technology, and spans ceramics, research, digital manufacturing, and material culture.
Ammon’s creative practice is currently focused on the interconnectedness of materials, entities, and landscapes. Seeing herself as an explorer and a storyteller, Ammon’s work delves into contemporary geopolitical and socio-cultural topics. The theoretical and aesthetic discoveries
resulting from her research-driven work are translated in text as well as objects.
Ammon moved to Germany in 2015, where she trained as a designer at Burg Giebichenstein
University of Art and Design Halle. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design (2021) and a Master’s Degree in Product Design and Design of Porcelain, Ceramics and Glass (2024). She has also gained experience in a number of ceramic manufacturers in Europe. Her work has been displayed in galleries and design fairs in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
